The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) has determined the probable cause of the accident to be the maintenance technician’s failure to inspect and clean the entire fuel-nozzle assembly in accordance with the engine maintenance manual, which resulted in fuel starvation and a partial loss of engine power.

Airbus Helicopters has obtained a contract from the Iraq Ministry of Defense to provide 12 multirole H225M helicopters that will replace Mil Mi-17s in service with the Iraqi Army.
