(SKYbrary) – The FAA’s risk mitigation strategies include learning about the local bird population, reducing airspeed when practical, increasing altitude, and wearing protective equipment such as a helmet and visor. The European Union Aviation Safety Agency’s Community Network advises pilots to avoid wetlands and other sites with increased bird activity, use strobe or landing lights, and land as soon as possible after a bird strike, among other recommendations.

Investigators noted the aircraft’s lack of a terrain awareness and warning system and gaps in aviation infrastructure as contributing factors.

(AIN) – Advanced Air Mobility Group (AAMG) plans to place an order for hybrid-electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) aircraft from Czech Republic–based Zuri as part of the investment.

Robinson Helicopter, the Torrance Police Officers Association, and the Torrance Police Foundation have reached an agreement that will fund a Santa float event into the future. This year, the float will start its tour through the community Nov. 30 from Robinson’s facilities at Zamperini Field (KTOA).

The Tokyo Metropolitan Government has selected a consortium of partners led by SkyDrive for the first phase of the Japanese city’s electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) implementation project. The project will use SkyDrive and Joby Aviation eVTOL aircraft, including for demonstration flights next year, with urban implementation planned in 2028.
