VAI Daily Oct. 31, 2024 Final FAA AD: Emergency float kit on various helicopters This FAA airworthiness directive (AD), which becomes effective Dec. 5, 2024, requires repetitive inspections of the pull force on the float activation handle of an emergency float kit for certain model helicopters. It also requires replacing certain part-numbered float inflation reservoirs and pull-cable assemblies with other part-numbered reservoirs and cables. In addition, the AD prohibits the installation of certain reservoirs and cables on specific helicopters. VAI Daily Oct. 31, 2024 TSB report: Kaman K-1200, British Columbia, Canada, Oct. 4, 2021 The Transportation Safety Board (TSB) of Canada has concluded that the accident resulted from an in-flight breakup of the helicopter’s rotor system after a blade on the left rotor collided with a blade on the right rotor. The logging helicopter crashed into Jervis Inlet, resulting in the death of the pilot.
