TAIC report: Airbus AS350 B2 and EC130 B4, Queenstown Aerodrome, Dec. 27, 2022
The New Zealand Transport Accident Investigation Commission (TAIC) has determined that the pilot of the AS350 B2 did not positively identify the location of the EC130 B4 because of the initial orientation of the AS350 B2 and the location of a hangar between the two helipads. The AS350 B2 pilot assumed that the EC130 B4 had already departed, given the time since each helicopter pilot had received clearance to take off. The two helicopters got as close as 44 m (114 ft.) in the close air proximity incident.
