VAI Daily Jan. 16, 2025 Helicopter removes artifact from NASA Armstrong rooftop (VIDEO) The US National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) is sharing details about an Oct. 4, 2024, operation using a helicopter crew to remove a rooftop pedestal at the Neil A. Armstrong Flight Research Center at Edwards Air Force Base, California. The pedestal held a telemetry dish that scientists used from 1950–2015. VAI Daily Jan. 15, 2025 Proposed FAA AD: Siam Hiller UH-12E (US Army OH-23G and H-23F) and UH-12EL helicopters The FAA is proposing a new airworthiness directive (AD) that would require inspecting certain main-rotor driveshafts for a crack, prohibit installing them unless the inspection is done, and prohibit using certain paint removers. Comments are due on the proposed AD by Feb. 28, 2025.
