One of the most essential missions of vertical aviation is wildfire suppression. The recent Los Angeles wildfires provided a powerful reminder of how our industry saves lives and property around the world. VAI salutes all those who work to support wildfire suppression efforts in L.A. and elsewhere around the world, including the mechanics and engineers who keep the firefighting aircraft in the air. In this edition of VFR, I talk with three aerial firefighters who were on the front lines in L.A. about the challenges they faced and how they overcame them. Watch this month’s video to hear their stories. And while we recognize these three aerial firefighters for their service, please know there are many more out there, doing what our industry does best: being there when our neighbors need us.
