FAA, other US agencies respond to drone sightings

The FAA, the Department of Homeland Security, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, and the Department of Defense have issued a joint statement that they are following up on 100 leads from 5,000 tips regarding recent drone sightings across the northeastern United States. While recognizing the concerns of local residents, the agencies stressed that they “have not identified anything anomalous and do not assess the activity to date to present a national security or public safety risk over the civilian airspace in New Jersey or other states in the Northeast.”

NSIB releases preliminary report on offshore helicopter accident

The Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau (NSIB) report indicates that the Sikorsky S-76C+ did not have a flight data recorder as required by regulations. The helicopter went down in the Atlantic Ocean near Rivers State on Oct. 24, 2024, resulting in the deaths of eight people.
