While recognizing the concerns of local residents, the agencies stressed that they “have not identified anything anomalous and do not assess the activity to date to present a national security or public safety risk over the civilian airspace in New Jersey or other states in the Northeast.” VAI Daily Dec. 18, 2024 FAA issues special conditions for Beta H500A electric engines The FAA special conditions for the Beta Technologies H500A series, which take effect Jan. 16, 2025, contain additional safety standards to establish a level of safety equivalent to existing airworthiness standards. VAI Daily Dec. 18, 2024 NSIB releases preliminary report on offshore helicopter accident The Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau (NSIB) report indicates that the Sikorsky S-76C+ did not have a flight data recorder as required by regulations. The helicopter went down in the Atlantic Ocean near Rivers State on Oct. 24, 2024, resulting in the deaths of eight people.
