The FAA, the Department of Homeland Security, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, and the Department of Defense have issued a joint statement that they are following up on 100 leads from 5,000 tips regarding recent drone sightings across the northeastern United States. While recognizing the concerns of local residents, the agencies stressed that they “have not identified anything anomalous and do not assess the activity to date to present a national security or public safety risk over the civilian airspace in New Jersey or other states in the Northeast.”

The FAA special conditions for the Beta Technologies H500A series, which take effect Jan. 16, 2025, contain additional safety standards to establish a level of safety equivalent to existing airworthiness standards.
