US DOT issues wheelchair rule to help passengers with disabilities

The US Department of Transportation (DOT) final rule, which takes effect Jan. 16, 2025, will strengthen its implementation of Air Carrier Access Act regulations to address problems that people with disabilities face regarding wheelchair and scooter mishandling and improper transfers. It will also incorporate certain provisions in the FAA Reauthorization Act of 2024.
