Helicopter crashes while fighting Colorado wildfire

(Associated Press/WGNO) – A helicopter helping to control a wildfire in Gunnison, Colorado, crashed into a reservoir Jul. 12, killing the pilot. The aircraft was a Kaman K-1200 that “crashed under unknown circumstances, becoming inverted,” according to preliminary reports.

FAA eIPP reaches major milestone with 1st flight demonstration

Hosted by the Virginia Department of Aviation in partnership with the FAA and BETA Technologies, the Jul. 10 demonstration featured a BETA aircraft transporting manufactured human organs approximately 275 nautical miles from Virginia to Maryland. VAI will actively support our members and states as we drive the implementation of the Electric Vertical Takeoff and Landing and Advanced Air Mobility Integration Pilot Program (eIPP) forward.

Palm Beach International becomes President Donald J. Trump International Airport

(GlobalAir.com) – The renaming, effective Jul. 9, changes the facility’s FAA and ICAO identifiers from PBI and KPBI to DJT and KDJT, respectively. Operators have until Oct. 7 to update their FAA documents, flight-planning systems, and navigation data.

AAIB final report: Westland Scout AH.1, Buckinghamshire, England, Apr. 24, 2026

The Air Accidents Investigation Branch (AAIB) concluded that, in the absence of a technical fault or malfunction, the exact cause of the helicopter’s loss of control could not be identified. The event appeared to demonstrate the
characteristics of a loss of tail-rotor effectiveness, but this was considered to have been unusual in this type of helicopter. Similarly, tail-rotor breakaway was considered but could not be positively determined.
