Pilots reported 12,840 laser strikes on aircraft to the FAA in 2024. The organization is highlighting its visualization tool, which shows trends from 2010 to present, and other resources to help decrease laser strikes while encouraging the public to report them to the FAA and local police.

TSB report: Bell 206L, Goose Bay Airport (CYYR), Canada, May 2, 2024

The Transportation Safety Board (TSB) of Canada has determined that low visibility led to a failed landing on a frozen lake. The TSB is reminding pilots that VFR flights that continue into IMC often result in an accident or loss of control due to a lack of visual references, adding that pilots should plan ahead, consider strategies to avoid adverse weather, and make alternate plans should they run into inclement weather.
