HSI upgrades Airbus H125 for Alaskan operator

One of the leading aircraft completion and MRO providers recently finished another in a series of H125 customization projects.

Helicopter Services Inc. (HSI) of Spring, Texas, has announced delivery of a new Airbus H125 helicopter to a telecommunications client from Alaska, GCI Communication Corp. (GCI).

“GCI is a new client for Helicopter Services, Inc.” states HSI Project Manager Ali Durham.  “They are the largest communications provider in Alaska and we outfitted their new H125 to meet operational demands and environmental conditions in which it will be flying.”

GCI offers a wide range of services, including internet, mobile, television and business solutions, known for its extensive network infrastructure, reaching 97% of Alaskans.

For the GCI project, HSI installed mission-specific equipment and upgraded the aircraft’s avionics to enhance operational capability and safety, including install of an autopilot system.  One notable addition is the large DART Vertical Reference Floor Window.

HSI also installed an Onboard Systems cargo hook for utility work, remote construction support and operations in hard-to-reach locations.

The company continues its client-centric approach, introducing new roles and processes designed to further streamline the completion journey for HSI customers. “These enhancements allow us to guide clients from aircraft procurement, through the development of their vision, and into full realization,” says HSI General Manager Mike Crossland.  A flexible, à la carte approach accommodates each client’s unique needs.

“We’ve elevated HSI’s capabilities with recent expansions and an increased capacity to manage multiple projects of varying scope,” adds Durham.  “This growth demonstrates that HSI is a true contender in providing comprehensive maintenance, repair, and completion services across a broad range of client needs.”

HSI’s facility now totals over 25,000 square feet under roof at David Wayne Hooks Memorial Airport west of Houston with dedicated shop areas for sheet metal, composite, avionics and other key services.

Air medical, airborne public safety agencies and private owners all rely on the company.

Helicopter Services, Inc. serves as the coordinator and single point of contact for its completion clients.

“This approach streamlines communication and project management for our clients, reducing complexities and potential delays,” states Durham.  “Our deep rotorcraft expertise ensures all aspects—from maintenance to completion contracts – are effectively overseen to deliver a high-quality finished product within the planned timeframe.”

HSI also continues its growing involvement in air medical completions, offering their well-known quality and precision to air medical operators nationwide.  Completion and service covers airframes from Airbus, Bell, MD Helicopters and Robinson aircraft.

Agencies choosing HSI for their completion and service needs include GCI as well as Apollo Air Medical, Florida Keys Mosquito Control District, Missouri Department of Conservation, Harris County Sheriff’s Office, City of Austin, New York City DOHMH, Houston Police Department, and others.

HSI is also an authorized partner for numerous top brands, including Airbus, Garmin, HeliTowCart, Genesys Aerosystems, FreeFlight Systems, StartStick, Robinson Helicopter Company, and Avidyne.
