Resource Hub Call for Participation: RTCA SC-224 – Airport Security Access Control Systems The RTCA Program Management Committee (PMC) has approved the following activity for the Work Program of Special Committee 224: The development of DO-230M – Standards for Airport Security Access Control Systems. This document has been referred to as the “encyclopedia” for airport access control. It is updated every 18 months to keep abreast of technology changes and is available free to ACI airport members. We are looking for airport participants to help update the document for its next release in 2025 Contents include: Cyber security, credentialing, physical access control, biometrics, video, communications and procurement Background RTCA (formerly known as the Radio Technical Commission for Aeronautics) established Special Committee 224 (SC-224) at the request of the Airports Council International – North American (ACI-NA), American Association of Airport Executives (AAAE), and Airports Consultant Council (ACC) to update RTCA DO-230, Standards for Airport Security Access Control Systems. The purpose is to continually incorporate new technology and lessons learned to cover the numerous aspects of airport access control systems. The intent is to provide a technically and regulatory current basis for FAA, TSA, and user community planning, investment analysis, and architectural decision making, and providing standardized systems and operational guidance needed for the effective deployment for security access control systems at airports. Call for Participation RTCA launches this Call for Participation to notify interested organizations and experts about this new revision and invite them to submit their interest in participation in this group. The committee will hold its next virtual meeting on August 22, 2024. All interested individuals are invited to participate and are welcome to attend.
