In the spirit of collaboration, VAI is constantly engaged with all levels of government working on issues and opportunities for our members. We are partnering with the New Jersey Economic Development Authority (NJEDA) to raise awareness about the various opportunities currently available in the offshore wind sector for the vertical aviation industry. NJEDA, the state’s economic development entity, is dedicated to helping New Jersey achieve its clean energy goals while supporting the success of businesses locally and regionally. The New Jersey Wind Institute for Innovation and Training has been tasked with workforce development, research, and innovation efforts to build a robust labor supply and to provide support for a network of universities, community-based organizations, and start-up companies. NJEDA is also assisting the offshore wind industry by providing supply chain and transportation solutions, primarily through the New Jersey Offshore Wind Supply Chain Registry. Currently, ferries that transport crew members to installation vessels are severely limited by slow speeds. As a result, the offshore industry has placed greater emphasis on using helicopters as an alternative for transporting equipment and crews, as well as emergency response and regular operations and maintenance. For companies interested in learning more about offshore wind opportunities in New Jersey, visit the “Business Resources” section of the state’s Offshore Wind Hub page, sign up for the New Jersey Offshore Wind Supply Chain Registry, or contact NJEDA directly at offshorewind@njeda.gov.
