The meeting will focus on the release of the probable cause of a Jan. 29, 2025, midair collision between a regional passenger jet and a military helicopter near Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport (KDCA). The FAA is accepting comments through Mar. 12. VAI Daily Jan. 26, 2026 Proposed FAA AD: Airbus Helicopters Deutschland/MBB BK 117 C-2 and D-2 The FAA is accepting comments through Mar. 12 on this proposed airworthiness directive (AD), which would require modifying and reidentifying a certain affected MS18027 type hook or replacing it with a serviceable part. This proposed AD would also prohibit installing an affected part on any helicopter without first meeting certain requirements.
