US military helicopter makes precautionary landing near Tokyo

(Kyodo News) – A US Navy helicopter crew made a precautionary landing Oct. 10 on a beach in Chigasaki, Kanagawa, Japan, after experiencing aircraft irregularities. None of the three people on board were injured.

ATSB report: Robinson R44 II, Cairns, Queensland, Aug. 12, 2024

The Australian Transport Safety Bureau (ATSB) has determined that the pilot conducted an unauthorized low-altitude flight at night while under the influence of alcohol. The helicopter crashed into the roof of a hotel and the pilot died in the accident.
