Medical helicopter crashes in southwestern Japan

(Associated Press) – An air ambulance helicopter went down into the sea Apr. 6, resulting in the deaths of three people, according to the Japan Coast Guard. Three people also sustained injuries in the accident.

Oklahoma leaders, residents celebrate 2025 Aero Day

State Rep. Nicole Miller (R-82) hosted an Apr. 2 town hall on aerospace, aviation, and defense as part of the annual event hosted by the Oklahoma Department of Aerospace and Aeronautics at the State Capitol in Oklahoma City. More than 1,200 people attended the event. “VAI is grateful to Rep. Miller for her leadership in bringing together industry, government, and community voices to advance aerospace in Oklahoma. Her spotlight on business aviation’s safety initiatives and the state’s preparation for vertical takeoff and landing aircraft reflects a forward-thinking approach that will help ensure a safer, more innovative National Airspace System,” says Greg Brown, VAI director of education and training services.

Proposed FAA AD: Airbus SA 341G and SA 342J helicopters

The FAA is seeking comments by May 22 on this proposed airworthiness directive (AD), which would require repetitively tap inspecting the main-rotor blades and repairing or replacing them, depending on the results. The AD would also prohibit installing those main-rotor blades unless certain requirements are met, as specified in a European Union Aviation Safety Agency AD.
