(CNN) – US soldiers trained with small quadcopters last month in Texas as part of an effort to quickly advance the use of military drones, as the Russian war in Ukraine has spurred a flurry of evolution in drone warfare.

The report notes that 35 military personnel and civilians have died in mishaps involving the V-22 tiltrotor since 2007 as the US Department of Defense prepares for production of the model to end in 2028. Plans call for the MV-75, or Future Long-Range Assault Aircraft, to replace the V-22 in US military service.
