Bell Textron has delivered a new Bell 429 to the Chicago (Illinois) Police Department, which has placed an order for two Bell 407GXis.

The Australian Transport Safety Bureau (ATSB) has identified the pilot’s failure to review or recalculate the performance of the helicopter for density altitude and weight and taking off from a confined area as factors that led to the accident. The ATSB also noted that the passenger-carrying flight should have been operated under Part 133, as the operator was only authorized for aerial work operations.

(Urban Air Mobility) – Air Chateau, Regional Airports Co., and Wings Capital Management are teaming up to develop a network of advanced air mobility vertiports across the Maldives.

The FAA is seeking comments by Oct. 4 on this airworthiness directive (AD), which takes effect on Sep. 4, 2024. It is an expansion of an existing AD (2000-18-09), which requires inspecting the upper left-hand cap angle for cracks, to include new models, updated procedures, an additional part-numbered cap angle, a reduction in the inspection intervals, and revised reporting requirements.

The Federal Economic Development Agency for Southern Ontario has invested $4.5 million in the aviation program at the First Nations Technical Institute (FNTI). The organization will use the funding to establish a helicopter training program for Indigenous students across Canada.
